Help put the ‘finishing touches’ to Park View 4 U Community Centre/Café

As you may know through walking in the park or driving down Park View Road, we are very near to completing the Park View 4U Community Centre and Café. This has been years in the planning and fund raising and months in the construction.

We are nearly there!

We have identified a few areas where we could really do with some in help in putting the finishing touches to the overall build. We know from the number of followers on Facebook and Twitter that there are some real experts out there and we are always contacted by people and businesses asking how they can help out.

Well here is how!

We have a list of areas where we just need that little bit of expertise, help or a donation towards the finishing touches.

We have a wish here are a few examples

For the much needed toilets;-

White Tiles and a Tiler!

Soap dispensers x 7

Baby changing unit

Hand Dryers

Others

Disabled call point system

Alarm System

Office Equipment / Media

Exterior lighting

All donations will be recognised in the centre, if you are a business donating you can have a free advert on our interactive community wall.

We have a new notices page that is quickly filling up.

It contains details of the Fairtrade event on Friday 2nd March, the coffee evening at the Clifton Arms and also details of a BBC event at Preston Guild.

Lytham’s answer to Gareth Malone!

We are delighted to announce our musical director as Graham Warrington, who will be assisted by Andrew Barnet, they will lead the choir as they “Sing 2012”.
Cath Powell, Community Development Manager for Park View 4U who is coordinating the Lytham Community Choir explained, “I am delighted that Graham and Andrew are leading the choir they make a great double act which will make rehearsing fun.”
The response to the choir has taken everyone by surprise as Cath explained “We have had over 200 people sign up, it is a real community choir, everyone from the milkman to the Mayoress! We have also had lots of offers of help and support, St Bede’s School is very kindly allowing us to use their hall for rehearsals.”

Graham who is Head of Music at St Bede’s School Lytham is no stranger to musical performances, having been brought up in a musical family, his father Graham snr is a musician who played saxophone, flute and clarinet with the Blackpool Tower, Charles Barlow Orchestra for many years.

Graham’s musical path led him to Colchester where he took a BA hons course specialising in music education, before going on to Canterbury Christ Church College, where he met head of music Derek Boyne who ran a very successful choir which enthused Graham about choral singing.
Graham was musical director at All Saints Church, Anchorsholme for 8yrs, whilst Andrew Barnet (Assistant head, St. Bede's) who is assisting Graham is the organist at St. Mark's Church, Layton.
Graham said “I can’t wait to get to know the choir members; we are planning to sing a wide range of musical styles from modern pop, jazz standards to West End show songs”

The first rehearsals will take place at St.Bede’s High School Lytham on Thursday 26th January 6.30-8.30pm
